WRAP UP

GCI WRAP UP BLOG WITH OSGeo

Hello Everyone! Google Code In, is going to end in 2 days and Last date of claiming last tasks is tomorrow( Jan 15. 2018), Hoping your GCI went great.

When GCI started I was very nervous to some extend, but since, with OSGeo I find ways to turn my nervousness into creativity and fun.  When I saw that OSGeo is participating in GCI-17, I Just dived into it. As it is Based on Open Source Geospatial Foundation and I love mapping, so i can say that this org was for me. I really enjoyed contributing to OSGeo.

My Experience

Participating in GCI was super exciting and at the end, I discovered that I come to know about Open Source and Geospatial and  gained some experience in the Open Source world. I learned a lot of things and got to know about my skills. I communication skills are also improving. I learned Git and GitHub and created my own website with Github.

My Work With OSGeo

Participating in GCI with OSGeo made me realized I can code and much more, when i learned to code I was not able to apply it, But by doing Code tasks I  learned how to use your code. In Between the contest, i found some python tasks with OSGeo, i was not knowing a single word of python, but i start learning python within the contest and successfully completed about 9-10 python tasks. Now I can say that I can code In Python. And now i am loving python by doing tests on GRASS GIS Modules.

I created some videos for OSGeo which can be found here. I created OSGeoLive blog which can be found here.

I will be creating an Recap video of My work with OSGeo so far in which i will be talking about in brief about Tasks I completed, the video will be uploaded to my YouTube Channel .

And also our organization has successfully completed 570+ tasks, Our org's final Leaders:

Thanks to all the mentors and Students. And Now GCI is going to end, but i am not that sad now because OSGeo is always available for me. I will not stop contributing to OSGeo, I will continue contributing to it by writing some Test in python for GRASS GIS modules and solving issues of OSGeoLive and Mapserver, also i will learn more about pgRouting and then start contributing to it.

print("Thanks You All!")
