Second Year With OSGeo | Google Code-in 2018!!!!



Google Code-in is a contest to introduce pre-university students (ages 13-17) to open source software development. After my first and successful year with OSGeo during Google Code-in 2017, and making nearly 70 contributions to OSGeo. And ended-up being as a Google Code-in 2017 Grand Prize Winner. Was the most beautiful moment ever! 
OSGeo is a non-profit organization serving as an umbrella organization for the Open Source Geospatial community. Such as GRASS GIS, OSGeoLive, PostGIS, MapServer, istSOS and many more. And is one of the most warm and welcoming community.

Working with OSGeo is one of my decision which I am proud of, because most my decisions are very bad XD! Hopefully I am 16 and I was able to participate and do tasks for OSGeo. Thanks to admins of OSGeo who suggested me to participate this year which will help me to gain knowledge and more experience. And also this is the second week going of Google Code-in and more than 110 tasks has been completed by high school students for OSGeo.

If you are older than 17 and want to contribute to OSGeo Here: Getting Started With OSGeo, And if you are 13-17 you should must give a try to Google Code In.

Google Code In Week 5 with OSGeo   Hello Everyone, Merry Christmas! Now we reached our week 5 of Google Code In. It just seems like that GCI just started yesterday but working  with OSGeo makes me feel like that i am working with my family so i can join them anytime on IRC. If you Haven't yet Registered on GCI, do it now: Link to Website   and have fun!  Our Organization has successfully completed 200+ task. I am very happy to see that we have a huge team now. Our mentors are really working hard as publishing more task, reviewing tasks is not an easy task. And students are also working hard as a stone as submitting 200+ entries is also not an easy task. My Experience With OSGeo And GCI

    My Experience With OSGeo and GCI On November 28,2017 I registered on Google Code In website which gives high school students an opportunity to get to know about Open Source by completing small sized tasks for the participating Organizations . This year about 25 organizations participated and OSGeo (Open Source Geospatial Foundation) was one of it.  OSGeo is serving as an umbrella to other Geospatial organizations such as Grass GIS , QGIS , MapServer , gvSIG , pgRouting , Open Layers and many more. I really enjoyed working with OSGeo as the community was really helpfull, Mentors was really working hard to help us Thank You Mentors and other students working with OSGeo, Like Ethan Zhao for Helping me! I still remember that I mistakenly claimed an beginner task of an other organization on first day, so I was only able to do 1 beginner task for OSGeo.  I completed 71 tasks in total and 70 for OSGeo.     Tasks Compl...
